Polk Vs Negreanu Final Terms are Set

New Online PokerPoker News

So it’s actually going to happen! We have been keeping you updated on this story as it unfolds, for those who are just catching up Daniel accepted a Heads Up Match from Doug Polk after being called out on Twitter and since then the pair have been working out the finer details.

Well, all that is over now and the pair are about to commence battle on WSOP, which for Las Vegas residents, which both players are, is legal to play on within the USA.
polk vs dnegs memeSay what you will about Doug Polk, but in my eyes and many other poker players that sit on the rail he adds a great deal of value to the community. He seems to troll some people really hard, but in all fairness, he has some pretty good intentions, calls out cheaters, puts his neck on the line to show how Poker sites are cutting into players profits and makes some pretty damn funny videos in the process.

The Challenge

Doug challenged DNegs to a heads up match on July 28th, after Negreanu stepped back into the limelight for his little WSOP run which he streamed this year and had some deep runs in a bunch of bracelet events.

He snapped Doug off, saying he would play, apparently sick of being called out and having videos made about him during the years. Bink, Doug’s plan seems to have worked, but Daniel said he would iron out the details later once his WSOP run was over.

Skip forward to October, the pair start to work things out… Daniel mainly just posting random tweets as he learns more about the Heads up Poker world from his “team” as he put it. One curveball is that even though WSOP allow the use of pre-flop charts, Daniel then stated he didn’t want these to be used.

Rules Have Been Set

The match will be played over 2 tables of $200/$400 at a time with Auto Top-up to 100BBs.

This is perfect for anyone that has been in the lab looking at solver lines, which are all based on 100 Big Blind solutions, this is pretty big edge for Doug as Daniel has probably never looked at any solves in his life, being the live feel player that he is.

The match will take place on WSOP.com

Daniel was looking to play on GGPoker as this is his sponsor, but the pair are not legally allowed to do so in Nevada, so instead, the second-best option was to both deposit a cool $1Million to the WSOP software, which is the maximum allowed within a one month period.

At Least 12,500 Hands to Be Played

Doug wanted to back up his truck a little harder and play more hands and Negreanu wanted a shorted match, so the pair have opted for 12,500 hands with the loser having the option to play another 12,500 hands if they wish.

No Charts, No Huds and No Hand Tracking!

This was the one that took the most work, with Doug eventually giving in to Daniel’s demand for no charts to be used.

PokerGo will show hole cards for a portion of the match

This is one for the fans! Doug wanted to stream with hole cards for the whole match, Daniel didn’t, so the middle ground was for the pair to play some of the match in the PokerGo Studio and show hole cards. Another addition to this is that Kane Kalas will be used to commentate on the match during this portion of the play.

We can’t wait for this one to go ahead and we are looking forward to keeping you updated with the best hands and behind the scenes twitter banter!
