William Hill, founded in 1934 is one of the oldest and most trusted bookmakers in the gambling industry. Running their Poker software on Playtech’s iPoker Network, the second largest poker network in the world they have steady traffic in all the game types through the site.
The poker client on the iPoker network is very user-friendly, William Hill offers the usual functions to make the games appealing for different customers, including completely interchangeable decks, tables, backgrounds and avatars.
Playing in Browser
Unlike other sites based on the iPoker network, William Hill have raised the bar and allowed poker playing to be done instantly through their website. The site is opened in a HTML web browser and all the usual games can be accessed such as Cash games, Tournaments and Sit n Go’s. This allows Mac and Linux users to play as the William Hill Software cannot be downloaded on these user interfaces, only Windows-based computers benefit from the full software download.
The team has developed a great app that is IOS and Android compatible. With all the usual functions you would expect from this market leader, they have gone all out with this app, multi-tabling and playing all the games that are on the full software is possible, it is almost the same as playing on a computer, which is refreshing as some times these apps are a very stripped down version, simplified with features missing, not in this case though.
There is a good solid range of cash games running on the site, they offer games from $0.01/$0.02 all the way up to $20/$40 limit games and $5/$10 No limit Hold’em games. The site simply offers Hold’em and Pot Limit Omaha variations including Fixed limit hold’em and Omaha and now offering 6 plus hold’em.
There are many tables usually running, with heads up tables on offer and games running daily from the lowest to the highest stakes. A popular action game on the site is the 20-50 big blind buy-in games, essentially a short stack game where you can enter into a $5/$10 game with just $200 and try and spin up a big stack. Apposed to the games on other sites where you may be forced to play such games with a minimum stack of 50bbs or $500, I really like this idea and it always seems to make for action-packed games with many All ins.
This is iPoker networks answer to fast folding poker action, with the click of a fold button you will get seated at another table in the pool of players who have also folded and instantly be able to play another hand. The games run from as little as €0.02/€0.05 up to €1/€2 however the main of the action seems to get played in the micro stakes with the €0.10/€0.20 game being the crowd favourite.
Sit n Go’s
William Hill Poker has all the usual Sit n Go’s on offer that you would expect such as Heads up Super turbos running around the clock from the micro stakes up to games of €5000 being played, this is where the wealth of action is with regards to Sit n Go’s. Up next are the also popular 6max turbos and Super Turbos, these run often, with stakes of up to €50 typically filling up. There is a decent amount of Micro stakes action across many game types.
William Hill also offers SnG Ladder games which start from €1.10 at Ladder 1 and go to €180 at Ladder 6, with these short stack 3 handed games you can move up and down the ladders at every buy-in, win all six Ladders and you get the cash prize of €500. A very cool game mode indeed!
The daily tournaments on offer have something for everyone, from €1 deepstack games with lots of play for beginners all the way up to €100 games. One of the best value games is the €10,000 guaranteed Championship with an entry of €50 starting at 20:00 pm GMT daily, bag a seat in a €10 satellite and take down big prizes with first place usually getting around €3000.
There is great value for players looking to grind low-mid stakes tournaments or add another site to their grinding schedule, with the pool of players from all walks of life, these aren’t the PokerStars Regulars you may be used to. However, for high-stakes players, there are limited games on offer.
Six Plus Hold’em
A little different to some of the other competitions offerings, the 6+ games on the iPoker network are ante-less, so they are played with the normal small and big blind and the rules in place here are that Three of a kind beats a Straight and as with all short deck games A flush beats a full house.
If you are not familiar with this game and want to check out the rules and some strategy, check out our post on the game HERE
This action game is very lucrative for players with a good head for not getting too attached to pretty hands, as in Pot Limit Omaha, this game is very board dependent. Regardless of if you have played any 6+ hold’em yet, or if you are looking to learn, this is a great place to do so with this fun game being played in some of the highest stakes action in Macau, it seems this is a gambler’s favourite that will be here to stay. With games constantly running from €0.02/€0.04 up to €0.50/€1, there is something for everyone here.
These are 3 handed Turbo Sit n Go’s which offer players random jackpots. There are three types of entries the Wild Twister are over in just one or a few hands with a buy-in of €0.50 and prizes up to a €50 ticket. The next offerings are the Twisters these games range from €1-€100 and players can bag up to €100,000 playing these. Then finally there are 3 progressive jackpot games available the AGE of the GODS Twister, these games accumulate a small percentage of all players entries and prizes reach hundreds of thousands from just a €1 investment. If you are lucky enough to win one of these your life will be changed forever!
The way that the William Hill Rakeback works is through their “Players Club” Players earn WHPoints or WHPs, players can move up in Club Status the more they play as they collect the second type of Points, Club Points or CPs.
A player that earns 1,000 WHPs in a month will earn ClubStatus5 and earn a 1.5x multiplier on their Club Points being earnt. So they will then earn 15 CPs instead of 10 CPs for someone without a multiplier. You can then redeem these points in the store, 1000 CP’s will get you €10 cash. You can also Opt-in to receive a bonus every Monday, trading in your WHPs and Getting €0.50 cash in return for every 50 WHP’s you have to a maximum of €5 a week. There are also some freerolls which can be qualified for but these are minimal value for most players unless you are playing micro stakes tournaments, these are not going to be worth your time.
Deposits and Withdrawals
All the usual deposit and withdrawal methods are on offer, including credit and debit cards. Many alternative methods can be used such as Paysafecard, PayPal, Neosurf, ECO, Kalibra, Postepay, Bank Transfers and Cheque. Another addition exclusive to the site is being able to deposit and withdraw through William Hill betting shops, I have personally used this method and found it great. It’s called William Hill Cash Direct and similar to other methods you get a voucher number for deposits from the stores themselves, being able to win a tournament and go and collect the cash from a store is a nice addition to playing online poker though!
A great addition for nearly all poker players, if you are looking to play low-mid stakes tournaments with soft fields, heads up or short-handed Sit n Go’s or some loose cash game action with some sports betting gamblers, this site will make you happy you signed up. The iPoker network offers 6+ Hold’em games too.
Setting William Hill Poker aside from its competitors is the ability not only play on Windows computers along with Android and IOS devices is the fact you can use the browser version of the poker client to play on a Mac or Linux.
