Polk and Negreanu Agree on Terms For Heads Up Match

New Online PokerPoker News

Daniel recently took to his podcast to confirm that himself and Doug Polk have ironed out some of the details of their forthcoming heads up duel, PokerGo is going to be involved, which is great news for the fans due to their high production record, this really will be a worthwhile viewing experience with the best commentators in the world on the rail with us.

The terms have roughly been set

  • At least 2 hour sessions and then 1 hour extra to be agreed by both players
  • 25,000 hands at $200/$400 and after 12,500 whoever is losing can choose to quit
  • Once the 12,500 hands are reached, both players can agree to kick up the stakes
  • No hole cards to be shown as DNegs feels Polk has a strong team behind him that will pick apart his game too easily.
  • DNegs is allowing checks to make sure he is not using any Real-Time Assistance, which is a hot topic right now, with loads of cheaters using solver information live during games.

Another question that lingers is where will this match be played, Daniel is has got his sponsor seeking legal advice whether the pair can play on GGPoker on a play money table and then settle up on the side, the other option is playing on the WSOP software, which is not exactly the most cutting edge with regards to the poker software.

Webcams?

Poker Go being consulted, no need to leave home during these COVID times, both are happy to play at home with live webcams possibly.

DNegs claims that he knows that Polk wouldn’t cheat him, he wants to win fair and square and he hopes that Polk would say the same about him.

Daniel is now in the lab and playing his Podcast friend Ross heads up in some warm-up matches to get back into the swing of things when it comes to the heads up format, which is by no means DNegs speciality.

Past Results

Say what you will about Daniel being an underdog in this format, but he has beaten Phil Ivey, JC Tran and many other big name pros in some clutch spots during his career.

Here he is battling JC Tran, one of the worlds best in Premier League Poker final playoffs

However, that being said he did also face off with one of the best online heads up players ever Isildur, the two played two sessions of 4 tables of $50/$100 on Pokerstars, Isildur came out ahead by $123,500 over the few thousand hands.

A little history

In 2011 alone, Daniel managed to lose a chunky $400,000, so it’s safe to say battling the online geniuses has not gone well for him in the past.

If we look at this result in the grand scheme of things, with fish feeding off of each other, another huge high stakes boss known as Sauce123, Ben Sulsky would also play Isildur at that time, however, he ended up crushing the Nordic phenome…

Moving forward to a short time later to 2013, Doug Polk rose through the High Stakes ranks to reach Sulsky, the two battled for a little while before setting up a 15,000 hand match where Polk won $750,000 at the tables not to mention any side bet action.

So with all that history in place, it doesn’t look too hot for Daniel, however, Polk has been retired for a few years now and has been having a tough time playing even low stakes online since he returned to get back into check-raising shape.
