Spin and Go Tips for Crushing

New Online PokerPoker Strategy

In this post we are going to look at some hands played in Spin & Go’s on PokerStars, we look at the strategy behind the lines we take and reveal the tips that will make your graph skyrocket and your bankroll boom.

We don’t fold to weak leads

Many players in recreational games, not just in spin and gos, will choose to lead out, we aren’t going anywhere when they do this… we can choose different lines depending on our hand, in this hand we choose to flat call, we have showdown value with our Ace high so there is little point in turning our hand into a bluff, we could just open up the betting to get blown off our hand.

Later in the same pot after our opponent bets the minimum twice we river an Ace, this one hand brings us on to another good tip for getting max value in spin and go’s…

Bet Small When Our Opponent is Weak

When our opponent is obviously very low in their range, make our bets small for value, as we have a chance of getting called, when a larger bet will never have this chance.

Make Limp Stabs from the Small Blind

Use hands that have little value as bluffs and Semi-Bluffs like gutshots and flush draws to bet our opponents off the pots in these blind on blind confrontations, we can win the pot with no showdown value or build a bigger pot for if we hit when betting with our draws.

Make Wide Raises on the Button

We are going to want to play fairly tight against raises when out of position and play wide and bluffy whilst in position on the Button. Try raising around 45-55% of hands including nearly everything suited, you can raise wider when you are against obviously tight opponents and slim down your range when you are against maniacs that are making a lot of 3-bets.

Bet More Middling Hands for Protection and Value

We are going to want to bet to protect our hands when we hit a piece of the board at some frequency, this differs from playing in cash games or tournaments where we might check back these types of holdings. We will want to try and pick up all the small pots in these games because every chip is valuable.

When making these bets we will be balancing this with our bluffs and monsters it’s going to be hard to know whether a bet from us will mean a medium-strength hand we are looking for protection with or a bluff or just a huge hand.

Include Strong Hands in Our Small Blind Limps

Many players will attack weakness in spin and gos, they will often raise limps from the small blind, so remain balanced, limp weaker hands and your strong hands, this way we can get value either post-flop with our stronger range or by springing the trap against our aggressive opponents by re-raising all-in preflop.

Play NASH Shoves when Play Gets Short Stacked

Learn your button and small blind all-in shoving range for 5-20BBs, this is going to be your bible for playing spin and gos, as within a few minutes of playing with stacks of 25BBs we will be open jamming most of our hands.

all in jams from button
Here we shoved 14.6BBs from the Button with pocket Fives, let’s look up if this is +EV with the Preflop+ App…

preflop plus
So we can see that all pairs 22+ are a shove from the button when playing 3 handed with 15BBs, so too are hands like 76s+, 86s+, 97s+, T7s+, J8s+, JTo+, Q8s+, QTo+, K5s+, KTo+, A2o+

Making these shoves correctly is just printing money long term… so get to know your all-in hands.
