Phil Galfond Looks Set to Crush Bill Perkins after $90,000 Win

New Online PokerPoker News

Phil Galfond’s second challenge is underway and it looks like it’s going to be over pretty fast!

With a winner to be announced as soon as a $400k stop-loss is hit, it’s looking like Phil is going to completely dominate this match. After coming off the back of beating one of the toughest PLO opponents there is anywhere in the world, the rest of these matches are going to seem like child’s play for Phil.

Whilst this might not be a clash of the titans, it’s already proving to be a really interesting game between the two and from what we have caught from the matches it seems like Phil definitely thinks Bill Perkins is almost incapable of bluffing.

This is a huge shift from his last opponent VeniVidi that took nearly any spot and used any key blockers to pile the pressure on. After just 1013 hands played Phil is up over $90,000! With nearly all that win coming from the second session.

Freeroll Heaven

Phil took his share of run good though, it’s not all just outplaying the Businessman as Perkins is known in the Poker world. In this pot, both players wagered all the biscuits pre-flop, as will often happen when they both have AAxx in their hands.

Phil managed to flop a freeroll in the shape of a diamond flush draw… and blink! He hits the nut flush on the Turn to win this $40,000 pot early on.

Cooler City

Phil was by a huge lead at one point until this 255BB pot went down, which as these stakes is a cool $51,000. Phil was of course holding the second nuts by the River with his hand containing KKxx… Bill Perkins slow played a Turned Quad Fives and check-raised the pot on the end to get looked up by Phil.

The craziest part about this is that all this went down whilst the two are casually on the phone too each other! Phil seems to be getting the better on the meta against Bill, sensing when Bill has real hands and going quiet compared to just chatting away when he has weaker hands. It’s been a unique viewing experience that’s for sure!

Solid Folds

Phil has made some tough laydowns too, this is a spot where 90% of PLO players would have just piled all the money in on the Flop most likely, Phil navigated his way through the pot without getting stacked and made a solid fold on the River with Bill’s reaction to his muck all but revealing he must have wanted action with his bet.

This again shows that Phil is just placing Bill Perkins as a nut peddler at least at this point in the match anyway.
We look forward to watching the action as the match progresses, but make sure to tune in quickly for this one, because we aren’t sure it’s going to last too long!
