Bad Beats can be something that new players dwell on too much, we had the best hand but our opponent made a better one by the river and got there versus our hand.
The main thing to keep in your mind is that Poker is a long term game, in the short term anything can happen and the biggest advantages can get crushed, however, this won’t be happening over and over again.

If you are a good poker player and you are playing against some bad players and they win the pot with a bad beat, this a good thing, because now a bad player has more money for you as a good player to get from them.
It also allows the bad player to experience a good time at the table, meaning they are likely to play again. This is only ever good news for the Poker eco-system.

Let’s look at the example of AA Vs KK all-in pre-flop for a moment…
If we play a $1000 pot in the local casino then we should be winning this pot around 4/5 times and collecting the whole $1000.
Winning every time is not a fair result
The Kings are not worthless in this situation, the fair return for the Kings here would be getting $187 back from the $1000 total pot, however, most of the time they will gain nothing.
Therefore the times when we scoop the whole $1000 isn’t totally fair and the times when the Kings come from behind and put a bad beat on us is just paying back for the times when we have over won with our Aces.
Sum Up
Realise that we cannot win every time we are a favourite and try and see the times we lose as paying back the equity we have squashed previously with our hands as a favourite.
Remember that poker is a long term game and keeping bad players in action is only going to be a benefit for you in the long run.
Try and think that Poker is a skill game and the variance is what makes it different to sports like Golf and Football for example, where an amateur could never battle at the same level as a Professional, variance or “Bad beats” are the reason these types of players like Poker, without this there would be no game.
