Be open to change and learning

This is one of the biggest things to be able to change in yourself, it’s fine to make mistakes at the poker tables, but when we do, we need to process what happened and learn from these things.

This is what poor players do badly, not learn from mistakes… If we can start to learn from our mistakes and change how we react for future situations like this, then we can become not only great players but better people too!

If this is something that you have trouble with in general, there are some great resources out there, like this e-book about reaching our full potential from Carol S. Dweck.

Self Care

Nutrition and self-care is the next biggest factor in what it takes to become good at playing poker and not only that but what it takes to be good at pretty much anything.

Your body is just a machine that needs fuel to run, people that run their machines with poor fuel get tired, can’t think well and perform poorly in many areas.

A poor diet can add greatly to anxiety, stress and depression and if we aren’t eating well we just aren’t going to feel like we have the mental power to beat people at the poker tables.

Healthy fatty foods, good vegetables, fish and fruits will make you feel great, have a good day eating clean and you’ll notice how your performance will improve vastly when it comes to playing poker too.

Exercise and Cold Shower

It’s easy to stay in bed late, get up, eat some food and walk around waking up with some TV on.

What will really get you going in the morning is sitting in some sunlight, life some weights or get some light exercise to get your blood pumping and taking a cold shower.

Excercise and cold showers improve your mindset, we are too mothered by this easy world we live in, everything is too convenient and nothing is hard anymore. Wake from this coma with weights, hard work and cold showers and you will feel ready to take on anything… give it a chance.

Look to be Strong Moving Forward

Look to build on your successes, today you studied 20 minutes and played a little poker, tomorrow try and study for 25 minutes and work a little harder.

Look to talk poker with players, if you don’t know any then join a poker training site where they have discord groups, or just start posting on forums like 2+2 and ask for advice on hands and spots.

Look to consume some content by good players like BenCB or BBZpoker and you will start to pick up on their mindsets, this can really start to rub off on you and help more than you think.
