Does the Action Player make the Rules?

Daniel Negreanu now seems to have some problems with the current rules of the proposed challenge…

Doug’s take on negotiating with Daniel has said…

“Working” with Dnegs on this challenge has been a nightmare, so I’m just gonna make this easy.
I agree to follow the rules set forth on http://WSOP.com. That’s it. I’m not wasting my time arguing this out on social media anymore.
If he can’t agree to that then no match.”

Daniel Takes to His Podcast to Rant

Clearly, DNegs doesn’t agree with charts being used, even though this is allowed by the T&Cs of all the poker sites that I’m aware of and is an accepted part of the game at this point.

Maybe it’s because there is simply no way to police that people won’t just print out charts and have them on their walls as they play, but regardless, this has been a part of the game for some time now.

Doug Polk is not ashamed of this kind of behaviour and a great deal of the poker community will share his feelings, with pre-flop apps and charts for shoving ranges being a thing in poker for years now, Doug even used one in a Highroller WSOP event. So how can another pro, that is sponsored by a poker company that allows chart usage use this to put shade on his name for their upcoming match? Seems a little dirty, he is trying to drag charts into the Real-Time Assistance world, which it simply is not.

Galfond Backed up Polk

With tweets saying that Preflop charts aren’t RTA and that this discussion on charts is a distraction from the actual problem. Which is solver assistance in real-time, which clearly Doug Polk is against.

Dominik Nitsche also chimed in with a very strong statement that sums up this debate well…
” Can we just focus on the main point which is charts are commonly used and won’t turn anyone into a winner and real RTA makes you unbeatable post-flop.

Because one is a big deal and the other one isn’t”

Daniel, however, argues that Polk’s charts are helping him from the first point of the game tree… which is a good point. Something that he is learning from his team and this GTO learning account on youtube that he tweeted:

Show Must Go On!

This is the equivalent of someone on a race line at the last second saying that he didn’t know red laces were allowed and he would have got a pair if he’d known.

They aren’t against the rules, this has been going on from anyone that plays heads up online for years and if Daniel wants to play a heads up match without charts maybe he should have thought about that a little earlier than 2 weeks before the due date.

One of Dougs main complaints with Daniel’s terms is that he doesn’t want to agree to show holecards, Doug was pushing for this just to give the fans what they want and a much more fun viewing experience, rather than having commentators guessing at the cards in play.

Daniel has now stated that he’s been studying with a team of advisors for a few weeks and they are surprised at the speed of his progress. Whilst Polk has reportedly been winning over $100,000 on days playing heads up, high stakes online!

With shots fired from the likes of the SolveForWhy camp, with Matt Berkey and Christian Soto both tweeting him various insults and getting shut down by their lack of action against Doug. Kelly Minkin even chimed in claiming that Doug must not be too well endowed to be talking the way he is online.

It’s safe to say things are heating up, whilst Doug is backing up his truck as he puts it, looking forward to Novemeber!
